Big announcement from Apple.

Apple likes to announce updates to all its platforms at WWDC and this year’s conference was no different. The Cupertino giant made a number of announcements but if you missed out on them, don’t worry, here are all the important announcements from WWDC 2017.

1. iOS 11

The new iteration of iOS brings a new control center, notification center, improved Siri, updated Apple Music, a Files app, person-to-person Apple Pay, redesigned App Store, and more. There are also some iPad-specific features like drag & drop support, split view, new dock etc.

2. macOS High Sierra

Yes, that’s the name of the new macOS version. High Sierra brings a much faster Safari, split view in Mail app, more editing options in Photos app, and more. It also packs in some great under the hood changes. APFS is now default on macOS along with new Metal 2 graphics.

3. watch OS 4

The all new watchOS version brings a new Siri watchface that brings contextual info, based on the apps you use and the activities you do. It also brings a new Music app, along with improvements to the Workouts and Activities app. watchOS 4 includes a new dock as well.

4. iMac Pro

Apple announced the brand new iMac Pro and boy, this thing is a beast. The iMac Pro will come in multiple variants with 8 core Xeon, 10 core Xeon and 18 core Xeon processors. It will also feature AMD’s Radeon Vega GPU. There’s also 128 GB of ECC memory, 4TB SSD, four Thunderbolt 3 ports, and 10 GB ethernet port. iMac Pro will hit the market in December, with prices starting at $4,999.

5. iPad Pro 10.5-inch

The new iPad Pro 10.5-inch has also been announced. It features a display with 120 Hz of refresh rate and is powered by the new A10X chip and a new 12-core GPU. The new iPad Pro feature the same cameras as iPhone 7 and its 64 GB base variant is priced at $649.

6. HomePod

Siri Smart Speakers aka HomePod is here to take on the Amazon Echo and Google Home. It features a speaker with 7 tweeters and a 4-inch woofer for impressive sound. The “Hey Siri” smart speaker is powered by the A8 chip and has 6 microphones for better listening. It will arrive in US, UK and Australia in December with a price tag of $349.


7. Refreshed iMac and MacBooks

The iMac and MacBook line-up have been refreshed with the latest Intel Kaby Lake processors. The iMacs have also gotten more upgrades, with 43% brighter displays, and variants featuring Intel’s Iris 640 Plus graphics, AMD Radeon Pro 555 & 560 (upto 4GB VRAM) and Radeon Pro 570,575,580 (upto 8 GB VRAM). These upgrades make the iMac better for 4K and VR creation.
